OKX Internal Transfers: Send Crypto Free and Instantly Between Accounts
OKX users can transfer to each other by UID, email or phone number — no network fees, instant arrival. Full steps, limitations and scam warnings.
If the recipient is also an OKX user, you don't need an on-chain withdrawal at all — internal transfers are free and instant, with zero risk of picking the wrong network. It's one of the most overlooked money-savers for beginners.
Internal transfer vs on-chain withdrawal
| Internal transfer | On-chain withdrawal | |
|---|---|---|
| Fee | Free | Charged per network |
| Speed | Instant | Minutes to hours |
| Main risk | Wrong account | Wrong address / network |
| Use when | Both sides use OKX | Sending to external wallets / other exchanges |
Steps
- Go to Assets → Withdraw and pick the token.
- Choose "Internal transfer" instead of on-chain withdrawal.
- Enter the recipient's UID, email or phone number (whichever is actually bound to their account).
- Enter the amount. The confirmation page shows part of the recipient's profile — verify it's really them before sending.
- Pass security verification (funding password / 2FA). Arrival is instant.
The recipient can find their UID in the app's profile section — a screenshot from them is the safest way.
Three limitations to know
- KYC required on both sides.
- Irreversible: sending to the wrong account is as unrecoverable as a wrong address; the platform doesn't arbitrate user-to-user transfers.
- Funds land in the recipient's funding account — they'll need to move it to the trading account themselves to trade.
Scam warning
The instant nature of internal transfers makes them a favorite collection channel for scammers. Two rules:
- Only send to people you know offline and can phone-verify. "Support asked me to verify my account via internal transfer" and "escrow via internal transfer" are always scams.
- Any stranger insisting internal transfer is "more convenient" is a red flag — see fake customer support scams.
Risk note
Internal transfers are instant and irreversible; verify the recipient character-by-character before sending. Educational content only.
