OKX Withdrawals Restricted for 24 Hours? Confirmed Triggers and What to Do
Not every OKX withdrawal restriction lasts 24 hours. Separate a confirmed 2FA protection window from compliance review, maintenance and account compromise.
Updated July 12, 2026. Restrictions differ by region, account state and security action. Read the reason and release time shown in your account instead of assuming every hold lasts 24 hours.
An OKX “withdrawal temporarily restricted” message can indicate a post-security-change protection window, but it can also indicate risk review, compliance checks, network maintenance or abnormal account activity. Treat it as a 24-hour hold only when the page explicitly gives that duration or release time.
A confirmed 24-hour scenario
OKX's official help material states that resetting, changing or unlinking an authenticator app generally prevents crypto withdrawals and P2P trading for 24 hours. This protects an account from an attacker who changes authentication and immediately tries to move funds.
Password, phone, email or account-recovery changes may also trigger protection, but affected features and duration should be taken from the confirmation screen and account notice—not generalized into a universal 24-hour rule.
Identify the type of restriction
| What the page says | Likely category | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| A release time appears after your security change | Protection window | Wait; do not repeatedly reset security methods |
| Identity or source-of-funds documents are requested | Risk/compliance review | Submit truthful, complete documents once |
| A network or asset is under maintenance | Platform/network issue | Check status notices; do not resubmit repeatedly |
| You made no change but received a security alert | Possible compromise | Change password, freeze the account and contact official support |
| The displayed release time has passed | Another issue may exist | Save the message and submit a support ticket |
Three-minute diagnostic order
- Record the full reason, affected feature, release time and error code.
- Review security changes made during the previous 48 hours.
- Check in-app notices and device/security history to confirm the action was yours.
- If only one asset is unavailable, check its network status.
- Save a screenshot before contacting support.
Do not do these things
- Do not repeatedly reset your password or 2FA to “refresh” the timer.
- Do not borrow another person's account to bypass the restriction.
- Do not pay a private “unlock” or “expedite” service.
- Do not assume internal transfer is always available; some security restrictions also cover P2P or internal transfers.
If the action was not yours
From a trusted device, open the official app, change to a unique password, review devices and API permissions, freeze the account, and contact official support. Do not use a link from an unexpected SMS or email, and never reveal verification codes.
What to include in a useful ticket
Provide your UID, the RFC3339 time when the restriction appeared (for example, 2026-07-12T18:30:00+08:00), the complete message, your latest security change, and the asset/network involved. One complete ticket is better than multiple duplicates.
Bottom line
“Withdrawal restricted” is not one diagnosis. Wait when a timer is explicit, submit documents when requested, treat unknown security changes as compromise, and escalate only after the displayed release time passes.
