How the OKX Withdrawal Allowlist Works: New-Address Lock and Verification
Understand the allowlist, 24-hour new-address lock, 30-day verification and permanent verification before changing withdrawal security settings.
Checked July 12, 2026. Security options and verification periods can vary by region and app version.
With the withdrawal allowlist enabled, OKX permits withdrawals only to addresses saved in the address book. It reduces the risk of an attacker adding an unknown destination, but can also create a deliberate waiting period for a new address.
Three settings people confuse
| Setting | What it does | What it does not do |
|---|---|---|
| Allowlist | Restricts withdrawal to address-book entries | Guarantee that a saved address is correct |
| New address withdrawal lock | Blocks a newly added allowlist address for 24 hours | Mean the entire account is frozen |
| 30-day/permanent verification | Reduces repeated security checks for that period | Remove your duty to verify network and destination |
OKX states that the advanced new-address lock prevents withdrawal to a newly added allowlist address for 24 hours. Address verification can be set for 30 days or permanently, subject to the interface: App allowlist guide and web guide.
Recommended setup order
- Open Assets → Withdraw → Address book → Address settings.
- Add a frequent destination and verify asset, network, address and memo/tag.
- Complete a small test transfer and confirm receipt.
- Enable Allowlist, then New address lock if you want the additional delay.
- Give the address a precise name, such as “My hardware wallet—Bitcoin network.”
Common problems
Invalid address: the selected network may not match the address format, a required tag may be missing, or another OKX user should be selected through internal transfer rather than as an on-chain address.
Urgent new address: if you enabled the lock, waiting for the countdown is safer than disabling every protection to rush a transfer.
Verification expired: expiration of a 30-day no-verification period does not invalidate the address; it means security verification is required again.
An allowlist cannot prevent you from saving the wrong address. Test every new destination and verify the network before each withdrawal.
