Lost Access to Your OKX Phone Number or Email? Change It Safely
Use separate paths depending on whether you can still log in, and plan for identity checks, wallet backup and the post-change security restriction.

When an old SIM is gone or an email account is inaccessible, first separate two cases: can you still enter the OKX account? Do not keep requesting codes or give account details to a third-party recovery service.
If you can still log in
Open Menu → Account settings → Security. Under Authentication methods, select Phone or Email and choose Change. If the old method remains accessible, complete old-method, new-method and additional security verification.
If you cannot log in or the old method is completely unavailable
On the login or verification screen, choose Unable to verify or Reset authentication method. Continue with another method you still control and complete the required identity verification. If you created a Web3 wallet, first confirm its seed phrase or private key is backed up offline; exchange-account recovery cannot restore an unbacked-up self-custody wallet.
Official instructions: Change email and change phone number. OKX states that changing or resetting phone, email or authenticator methods generally restricts withdrawals, P2P selling and certain other actions for 24 hours.
Prepare before the change
- a new phone or email you personally control long term;
- confirmed delivery of email or SMS;
- account UID and recent-device information;
- identity material requested by the official flow;
- a plan for the 24-hour protection window.
If you did not request the change
Treat it as compromise: from a trusted device, change to a unique password, review devices and API permissions, freeze the account and contact official support. Do not follow an unexpected email link.
